Frequently Asked Questions

What is CRV?

  • CRV stands for California Refund Value or California Redemption Value. The CRV program was started in 1986 as a way to encourage recycling.

  • Soap, food containers, paper juice boxes, and other non-beverage bottles are never subject to CRV. We do not accept them.

Do my bottles need to be uncapped and/or crushed?

  • No, but you must keep the label on and make sure the bottle is empty. Per CalRecycle policy, we are not allowed to pay for bottles that do not have proper CRV labels.

Who determines the prices for CRV?

  • CalRecycle is the state’s government entity that regulates the CRV program. They do semiannual audits and surveys to calculate the pay rate for each material.

Do I need to make an appointment prior to coming?

  • No, no appointment is necessary but please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before we close so that we have enough time to process your materials.

Is there a limit to how much I can bring?

  • Yes, each household is limited to 100 pounds of plastic, 100 pounds of aluminum cans, and 1,000 pounds of glass per day. If you want to have your CRV redeemed by count the limit is 50 pieces per material regardless of size.

  • Saturdays: 7 AM to 2:30 PM
